Electrical Parts

Since I pretty much finished assembling the mechanical parts and modifying the cartridges, I focused on working on the electrical parts yesterday. As soon as I receive the missing parts from the mechanical engineering department package receiving room, I should be able to complete the mechanical parts.

Megatronics V3.1 is compatible with the Arduino Mega 2560 and will therefore be easily programmed form the Arduino IDE, Yesterday I downloaded an opensource program that is built to control powder-based 3D printer and modified little bit. Then the firmware is successfully uploaded to the board. The code is divided into the following subgroups: comments, heating, inputs, menu structure, nozzle commands, pause, and SD write. Motors for the feeder pistons, building piston, spreader, and XY-axis worked correctly as I controlled.

Controller panel with LCD with the three pistons assembled.

Filling the cartridge with UV curable resin.

Future plan:

- finish mechanical parts

- modify the HP 2D printer head hacking code
